About Us

Dan has been practicing accounting and taxes for over 15 years. He started at a national firm based out of Indiana. After five years he met Mary Flegal and joined her practice in Portage, Michigan. He primarily works with business owners and individuals with their various accounting and tax related needs. If he is not working he volunteers with the Vicksburg Lions Club or the Portage Rotary Club. He also has three children, two dogs and likes to spend time working on his car.

In 2006 Lisa began her career at a Michigan based public accounting firm. She worked primarily on nonprofit and governmental audits, however like many other CPAs she also helped out with taxes during tax season. In 2014, after having her second child she decided it was time for a change and joined her husband and Mary at Flegal and Melnik. Lisa completes most of the firm's audits and reviews along with payroll taxes and overseeing their bookkeeping services. In addition, she is a Girls on the Run coach for Vicksburg Schools and the Treasurer of the Portage/Vicksburg/Schoolcraft AYSO.

Janet has been in the tax accounting field for over thirty years, working in industry and public accounting. Her focus is tax issues for profit and not for profit entities as well as individuals and trusts. When she is not working, she likes to lead fitness classes, ride her bicycle and spend time outside.

Stacy began practicing accounting in 2018. She assists with the firm's audit engagements, works with monthly clients, and prepares personal tax returns. She is currently studying for the CPA exam. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her son and kayaking.

Neasie has had a variety of positions over the years - Typist, Cashier, Accounting, Teaching, and Programming. After retirement she wanted to keep her mind active and get out of the house during those winter months. The plan was to attend classes in Tax Preparation and work part time. (As we all know, part time is a different animal during Tax Season!) It must have been a good plan as she has been doing this for more than 10 years.

After a successful career in accounting Mary decided to retire effective May 2018. She is currently enjoying retirement in California and enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and playing bridge.
